"You get close to the witchery of nature when you try to read the story of a fox's journey. And upon a November dawn, when the world lies still and the fox wraiths slip out of the embraces of the streams to hurry for the shelter of quiet shadowed woodlands, there is no ordered sequence of reason. The country is then a misty illusion, and a fox is neither in the world nor out of it..." Mason Houghland, - M.F.H.

Windy Hollow Hunt

Masters of Foxhounds are the chief policy-makers in the Hunt. All hunt members are represented by an elected Board of Directors which has the authority to confirm the Masters, and which meet regularly with them to assist in conducting hunt business.

Masters of the Foxhounds are ultimate authorities in the field.  The Huntsman hunt the hounds, A Field Master leads the riders, and an Honorary Secretary collects fess and keeps track of horses and riders in the field..

Members who show exceptional interest and prowess in the field are encouraged to learn more about the sport and have the opportunity to work with hounds and serve as staff members. The formal hunting season is preceded by cubbing, informal hunts usually held in September for the purpose of acclimating new hounds, horses, riders (and foxes) to the sport. Guests are welcome during hunts and cubbing, provided they have made prior arrangements with the Masters or Honorary Secretary.

Committees

Hunting may be seasonal, but the Hunt's activities go on year-round. Volunteers are needed to serve on the Committees that organize and direct the activities. Any member, rider or not, may serve on a committee. The Hunt Committee assists with the day to day land and hunting activities such as the placement and repair coops (jumps), hound and kennel work and the development of hunt country. There are other operational and social committee positions such as the Membership committee, Hunt Ball committee etc.
